Introduction

Welcome to the Academic Section of the Parapsychological Education Centre. Our commitment to rigorous, high-quality education in the field of parapsychology and the paranormal is second to none. Below, you’ll find details about our course offerings, faculty expertise, and academic policies.

Our Courses

Our academic offerings span a broad range of topics within parapsychology and the paranormal, including but not limited to extrasensory perception, psychokinesis, and survival of human consciousness beyond bodily death. We offer introductory courses for those new to the field, as well as advanced courses and special topics for those looking to deepen their understanding.

Faculty

Our faculty comprises of subject matter experts in the field of parapsychology and other disciplines. They are not only deeply committed to educational practices, but they are also active investigators/researchers, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in this specialized field.

Curriculum and Course Structure

All courses are designed with a mix of theoretical background and practical application or experience. Our curriculum is regularly updated to incorporate the latest research and methodologies in the field. Each course has a structured syllabus, accessible via our online learning platform, which outlines the learning objectives, assessment methods, and reading materials.

Courses are hosted on our online learning platform, Moodle, an electronic learning management system. Live course lectures will be taught through the telecommunication software Zoom. If students are unable to attend the scheduled live lecture, that is not a problem. Audio from the lectures will be uploaded immediately after class has taken place. Students will then have one full week to listen to the class broadcast, answer their weekly discussion question, and read the additional material provided. Presently, we offer eight and four week courses.

Four Week Course Structure

Once a week a live lecture will be held via Zoom followed by a posted discussion question in which students will be required to answer. There will be a final examination made available at the end of the fourth week. Sudents will have 10 days after the live lecture date to complete the examination for their final mark. Students are asked to write in American Psychological Association (APA) format whenever submitting written work which includes proper citations and references.

Eight Week Course Structure

Our Eight week courses also contain a once a week live lecture followed by a discussion question in which students will be required to answer. There will be a mid-term at the end of the fourth week in which students will have 10 days to complete. A final examination will be opened at the end of the eighth week in which students will have 10 days after the date of the live lecture to complete. Eight week courses may also have a short paper component. Short papers are limited to a minimum of three and maximum of ten published pages (not including introduction page, abstract, and references page). Again, students are asked to write in American Psychological Association (APA) format whenever submitting written work which includes proper citations and references.

The independent instructor’s review decision will be final and non-negotiable.

Voluntary Withdrawals or Termination

Withdrawals

Students who wish or are required to withdraw due to emergency situations, personal illness, illnesses in immediate family, or a change in the student’s ability to complete their studies, must send an email to [email protected] and include their name, course and reason for the withdrawal.

For the four week courses, students must request a withdrawal before the first class begins. Students who withdraw from a four week course before the first class is presented will receive a full refund of their tuition. After class has commenced, no withdrawals will be accepted for that course and no refunds will be issued.

For the eight week courses, students may request to withdraw anytime before the commencement of week five. Refund of tuition for the eight week course will be:

  • Before the course begins: 100% tuition refund.
  • Withdrawal after the course has begun but before the second week is completed: 75% tuition refund.
  • Withdrawal after the second week but before the fourth week is completed: 50% tuition refund.
  • Withdrawal after the fourth week: No refund.
  • Applications for withdrawal will be reviewed by the CAPRI President and Corporate Director, and a decision will be rendered to the applicant within one week. The decision will be final and non-negotiable.

Terminations

A student may be terminated from a course by the instructor due to a violation of the academic policies. Termination from a course will result in the suspension of all privileges. A termination due to the violation of academic policies will not give the student any rights to a tuition refund, and all tuition and fees that have been paid will be forfeited by the student. After a termination decision has been rendered by the CAPRI President and Corporate Director, the student cannot make a request for withdrawal from the course. Termination may occur at any time during a course.

A student who is terminated from a course will receive a failing grade for the course. If the termination is as a result of plagiarism, a P will be issued on the student’s transcript. This grade is non-negotiable regardless of the student’s standing or academic performance in the course, the number of courses which have been taken, or the student’s personal, professional, or academic needs.

Withdrawal or Termination Appeals

All students have the right to submit a formal written request for an appeal involving a withdrawal or termination decision. The student has only one opportunity for an appeal, and the decisions of the CAPRI Administration will be considered final and non-negotiable. A student cannot appeal a failing grade for a course if the student has been terminated from a course.

We maintain a strict policy on academic integrity. All students are expected to adhere to the guidelines and principles as outlined in our Academic Integrity Policy, which is available for review on our online learning platform.
