Halifax Paranormal Symposium 2023

The Halifax Paranormal Symposium has had to delay planning due to Covid-19. The symposium will be held at a date and location yet to be determined in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

In the meantime, we are still collecting submissions for papers and presentations. Submissions received after September 30, 2023 will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Papers and presentations of accepted submissions will be published and included in the booklet, provided that they are received before the deadline.

All submissions to the Halifax Paranormal Symposium must be submitted electronically (as a .doc or .ppt file, if possible). They should be e-mailed as attachments to the chair of the Halifax Paranormal Symposium at [email protected] If a paper has multiple authors, please advise which author will be presenting. Please include what audio/visual aids and equipment you will require for your presentation.

There is no length limitation for submitted papers or presentations, however, each presenter will be expected to be able to present for one (1) hour and fifteen (15) minutes. You will be expected to submit a full paper or presentation to the conference committee since you will be required to present in a symposium style lecture.

Anyone may submit a paper or presentation for consideration to the Halifax Paranormal Symposium committee. The paper or presentation can be on any aspect of the paranormal, including but not limited to; (Parapsychology, Mind-Matter Interaction, Survival of Consciousness after Death, Hauntings, Ghosts, Poltergeists, Unidentified Flying Objects, Cryptozoology, Folklore, Mythology, Occult, Religious Topics such as Demonology and Exorcisms and Field Investigation Case Studies).

Note that if you are approved to present at the Halifax Paranormal Symposium, your paper and presentation will be published in the symposium booklet and on the PPRI and Ghost Project Canada websites. In recognition of the length of time from the final date of submission until the date of the symposium, the papers and presentations can be updated or expanded from the original.

An Evening with Canada's Ghost Hunters

Ever meet a real life "ghost hunter" before? Wonder if supernatural events really exist? Have you seen a real cursed or haunted object before? Look and wonder no more!

Darryll Walsh has been studying, investigating, and analyzing various subjects in parapsychology for the past 46 years. He is currently the President of Ghost Project Canada. Walsh has authored three books of folklore: Ghosts of Nova Scotia, Ghost Waters: Canada's Haunted Sea and Shores, and Legends and Monsters of Atlantic Canada. Darryll also taught parapsychology at the Nova Scotia Community College from 1996-2017. As a result of his teaching and studies he published a short book on near-death experiences entitled That Which Survives: The Case of the Near-Death Experience. He was the host of Shadow Hunter, a 13 episode series exploring the experiences and effects of the paranormal on experiences. Most recently he had a recurring role in Sight Seers, an investigative documentary series that follows the work and travels of a pair of clairvoyants with a unique way of seeing the world.

Elliott Van Dusen has been obsessed with the paranormal since childhood. He is currently the Director of Paranormal Phenomena Research & Investigation, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating and researching the supernatural in Atlantic Canada. After serving 15 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, 8 of those years spent investigating violent crimes, Van Dusen left to focus his full efforts on investigating paranormal mysteries. He has authored two books: Evil in Exeter based on a true story and field investigation involving the terrifying haunting of a Rhode Island family; and Supernatural Encounters: True Paranormal Accounts from Law Enforcement.

Your evening will begin at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel located in beautful downtown Halifax on Hollis Street. There, you will be served a three-course dinner. Tables will be provided with a limited amount of complimentry wine, and there will be a cash bar available.

Following dinner, Darryll and Elliott will captivate you with "Hauntings: Exploring Appritions, Poltergeists and Demons". A question and answer opportunity will be provided to guests after the presentation.

To close the evening, there will be real cursed and haunted items from Darryll and Elliott's collection on display.
Guests may also view and operate real equipment utilized during haunting investigations such as the electromagnetic field radiation detector (EMF reader), thermal imaging camera, and spirit box (instrumental trans-communication/ITC device).
Don't miss this exclusive opportunity to meet Halifax based parapsychologists Darryll Walsh and Elliott Van Dusen and hear their true stories of the supernatural.

Tickets for this unique event are $125 each and will be limited to the first 40 purchasers. Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity!
